Phil Ivey Capures His 8th WSOP Bracelet

Phil Ivey has won his 8th WSOP bracelet in Event #37: the $3k H.O.R.S.E event.  Phil battled William”the poker mathematician” Chen heads up for the victory. Mr. Ivey took home just a little over 329k (chump change)for his victory. That now puts him ahead of Daniel Negreanu for all time tournament earnings with 13,182,309.

After the final round of checks, Smith announces “Ace” and Ivey waits until he has seen his opponent’s cards -- and then mucks his hand.

NBC is giving some amateurs that chance with ” Face the Ace” a poker-themed reality game show that debuts Aug. 1 and features a gauntlet of Full Tilt pros.

The 15 professionals that are rotating through the show’s seven-episode run includes Ivey, Matusow, Lindgren, Patrik Antonius, Andy Bloch, Allen Cunningham, Chris Ferguson, Phil Gordon, Gus Hansen, Jennifer Harman, John Juanda, Howard Lederer, Huck Seed, Erik Seidel and Gavin Smith.

Full Tilt Poker recently announced it will try to break the Guinness World Record for the largest online poker tournament. The current record is held by Poker Stars. Last December they reached 35k players for a single tournament.

It will take place at 15:05 ET on Sunday July 19th. Buy-in is $5 or 1,000 FTPs. The prize pool is a $250k guaranteed with $250k of money added.

Oh ya some guys named Phil Ivey and Chris Ferguson will be attending.

Phil Ivey and Antonio Esfandiari survived nearly 8 grueling hours of play to advance and will play for a seat in the final table Wednesday. The current chip leaders are Darvin Moon (20.16 million) and Billy Kopp (15.97 million). Ivey has 11.35 million in chips while Esfandiari has 4.47 million.

Already at the 2009 World Series of Poker Ivey has won a remarkable two events. He was reported to have won upwards of ten million dollars or more in side bets at this year’s world series with this two victories. The exact bets and amounts are not known but it is safe to say that Ivey has had a very profitable month of poker.

Phil Ivey is a pretty damn good poker player…  Ivey is now tied for 6th all time in wsop bracelets with Billy Baxter.. I guess all of these prop bets FINALLY got Phil in the mood for wsop some action..

“It’s nice to catch people,” Ivey told Nolan Dalla. “This is poker history, as you like to say. And so, to have the chance to catch someone like Erik who is (fifth) in the bracelets, to get into his category would be nice.”

Winner of Event 8 – $2,500 No Limit Deuce to Seven Draw

Phil Ivey bested a field of 147 entrants that included some of the biggest names in poker to win his sixth bracelet and further cement his name in poker history. Phil was the crowd favorite and received an outstanding round of applause when it was all said and done. The win netted Ivey $96,361 in prize money and likely earned him a little extra pocket change from sidebets. Congratulations, Phil, on bracelet number six!
