The hand heard around the world starts with Ivey raising with 8s 8d, Jordan Smith Three-bets from the BB with Ad 9c, Ivey calls. The players check to the river with the board reading Qh Ts 5s Qs As. After the final round of checks, Smith announces “Ace” and Ivey waits until he has seen his opponent’s cards -- and then mucks his hand.

Going into yesterday’s WSOP Main Event Day 3 the biggest name in the world of poker is near the top of the leader board. Feared poker pro Phil Ivey is sitting with almost 350,000 chips going into today’s action.

Already at the 2009 World Series of Poker Ivey has won a remarkable two events. He was reported to have won upwards of ten million dollars or more in side bets at this year’s world series with this two victories. The exact bets and amounts are not known but it is safe to say that Ivey has had a very profitable month of poker.

Miss World Hungary Busted/Kicked Out Of Rio

Not only did Miss World Hungary Szilvia Freire bow out of the World Series of Poker tournament held in Las Vegas last week, but Rio Hotel & Casino pit boss Bill Bruce had her and an FHM crew evicted from the premises as well. According to Everestpoker.com, who sponsored Freire in the tournament, after Freire fell out, her and the crew began to take some fully-clothed shots on an empty poker table. The pit boss, claiming that it was disturbing the players, had Freire and the crew leave the floor, even as the players still in the tournament expressed their disappointment at his decision.

Main Event Day 1A Over – Yang Busted- Costanza Alive

The World Series of Poker Main Event began with 1,116 players making their way to the Rio poker room for day 1A of play.

In the chip lead currently is Eric Cloutier with 150k. Some notables who fared well are the actor Jason “George Costanza” Alexander, Lex Veldhuis, Eli Elezra, WSOP Player of the Year 2007 Tom Schneider.

Some of the players who won’t be coming back for Day 2: John “Razor” Phan, Freddy Deeb, Allen Cunningham, Men “The Master” Nguyen, and the 2007 World Champion Jerry Yang.
